Hand Placement

Changing the location or pressure of your hand on the bow grip will cause the arrow to change point of impact. That is why some target archers tattoo a permanent line on their hand to line up with the center of the grip. Wearing a glove in cold weather can also change hand placement. Adding a bow quiver will change bow balance and the way you grip it. Changing hand placement can cause your groups to string out either vertically or horizontally, depending on how you change pressure on the grip.

Grip Styles:

Our Competition Grips fit all Mathews bows and are thin in style, have a fairly flat throat with rounded edges, the sides have slight indentations for the thumb and finger placement and it comes standard with the long nose to help in a consistent hand placement. The sides of this grip have been shaped to provide the most detail in the wood grain providing a little showier grip. Every piece of wood is different and no two grips will look exactly the same.

We also provide this grip for a Mathews Mustang. This grip is exactly the same as the Competition Grip except it is a scaled down version for a smaller hand to fit the Mustang Bow.

Nose Styles:

The nose of the Torque Less grips is available in two different styles. The competition nose is approximately 1 inch long. The mini nose is approximately 1/4 inch shorter. We recommend the competition nose for both hunting and target shooting. The longer nose helps provide the consistent hand place needed to keep torque to a minimum. The competition nose is the recommended nose style but a mini is provided for for those that like the feel of a shorter nose. Read more about "Noses" here.

Below are a Low, Medium and High wrist grip all with competition nose's.

Wrist Styles:

Our grips are available in three different wrist options, low wrist, medium wrist and high wrist. Just choose the one that supports your style of hand placement. The stock Mathews grip compares to a medium wrist. Note: the heels and nose's are now rounded on all grips as shown in the picture above.

Note the Heels of the grips are rounded as shown below. Also note how the nose is now rounded for a better feel in the hand.

What is Bow Torque

This is one of the most common problems of archers and one of the most difficult to diagnose.
Gripping your bow too tight or tension in your
bow hand or arm causes the bow to rotate in your hand. Bow torque causes your groups to string out left and right.  That is why controlling bow torque is so important.

Why the long Nose?

From Our

Customers

It's been a while but hunting season is nearly over here in WI so I thought I'd let you know how the grip is working out.  The fit and feel of your grips is awesome.  It took very little time for me to get used to it and I noticed a change in consistency within the first week of shooting it.  More importantly I really noticed that the bow was much harder to torque w/ gloves on in the field.  I'm very excited to see if it improves my scores during league this winter... I'm guessing it will.  As I've been shooting at the range during hunting season I have had numerous questions about the grip and have offered interested parties to shoot it.  They were impressed as well, hopefully you have heard from some of them.  Thanks again for making a great product...
